Happy 2016! I am so pumped for this year that I’m like Tom Cruise on a couch* excited for February because it is the start of the new Chinese New Year and according to Chinese Astrology it’s going to be a fantastic year for me! My astrological predictions have been right on point for the past few years so I’m betting all my money on 2016.
I feel charged, excited, and just on fire to start the year. I really love writing about my best moments of the year but I also get really amped to write my resolutions. Nothing says fun like goals with structured timelines! Hey-o! So here are my 2016 resolutions and again please share yours in the comments! I’m dying to know what everyone has planned for this amazing year (well for me anyways, if you’re a Tiger, Snake, Boar, or Dog then shit is about to hit the fan for you).
My 2016 Resolutions
Rules: I can break a resolution but there has to be a good reason like….instead of boxing I decide to do ultimate fighting.
1. Start boxing regularly.
2. Finish the first draft of my novel (I’ve been working on it for like 10 years so this one is highly unlikely)
3. Blog at least once a week, create a new recipe once a week, and try a new recipe from a cookbook once a week.
4. Host 4 Supper Clubs (in the works!)
5. Grow my first and very own veggie garden
6. Update this website
7. Master the art of fermenting foods
8. Meditate 4 times a week (If you’re interested I’ll tell you my favourite guided podcasts for this)
9. Plan my next trip
10. Decide if I’m going to not drink in 2016 (I’m still not sure there will be any benefits)
Just writing them down feels like I’ve accomplished something. So what are yours?
Moving on, I was in the mood for some Chinese Food but any vegan or vegetarian will tell you that it’s not the same experience as when you ate meat. Sure there are rice noodles and awesome tofu dishes but that neon red thing or beef and broccoli? Come on, I don’t know what sort mystical shit they’re doing in the kitchen but that stuff is amazing.
So I was determined to get that deliciously gooey sauce that resulted in the most satisfying stomach ache after.
Rich said it was one of the top ten dishes I’ve ever made but couldn’t actually recall anything else that would have made that list. And I don’t know if this is a sign of failure but I didn’t have a stomach ache after. Just the feeling of eating too much that I have after every meal.
